Ultimate sensor pointing accuracy for airborne operations.
The AeroComputers Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) enables the highest level of accuracy
in camera sensor pointing. Seamlessly integrated with the UltiChart™ Tactical
Mapping System, the AeroComputers IMU adds a new level of precision control of the
moving map and sensor payload. Select a target through UltiChart™, and proprietary
ViewSync™ high-precision gimbal command technology keeps the camera locked on
target hands-free regardless of aircraft movement.
Military-grade technology, the AeroComputers IMU is modular and is compatible with
the wide range of camera/IR sensors available. Unlike magnetometer or MEMS based
systems on the market, AeroComputers 3-ring laser gyroscopic IMU technology
is able to deliver consistently accurate camera line of sight (LOS) information
even in tight orbits and other extreme maneuvers. UltiChart’s internal GPS system
works with the IMU so position drift over time is negligible.
The internal terrain model of UltiChart™ further enhances pointing accuracy in mountainous
areas. An AeroComputers IMU-enabled system allows a user to geo-lock the
camera on a fixed target. This provides the geographical accuracy critical to patrol,
surveillance, firefighting and search and rescue operations. Enabling high-end sensor
functionality on mainstream equipment, the IMU is a cost-effective upgrade that
maximizes situational awareness of aircrews.
